Tropical Storm Ida

Hurricane Ida storms the East coast with winds to speeds up to 150 mph (240 kmph). On a Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale, Ida places a 4, meaning catastrophic damage is likely to occur. So far, the first death was reported a few hours ago when a tree fell on a Louisiana home in the Baton Rouge area. As of right now, it is uncertain how long the destruction will continue to uphold, but for Louisiana residents, it is not looking so promising. Due to the pandemic, most hospitals in the region are nearly at full capacity and any hurricane injuries will be far more difficult to manage since Louisiana has seen more than 679,000 confirmed cases and more than 12,000 Covid-related deaths as of this week. Making matters worse, the hurricane leaves a million people without power in Louisiana. President Biden said that it could take several weeks to restore electricity to the million homes in Louisiana.
